Application Support Specialist
The Application Support Specialist is responsible for managing the submission of Medicaid long-term care applications under the supervision of the Medicaid Team Manager. This role serves as the client's advocate, ensuring all necessary steps are taken to facilitate a smooth and efficient application process.
Specific Job Responsibilities
- Manage Medicaid long-term care applications under the guidance of the Medicaid Team Manager, with clerical support from the Administrative Assistant.
- Work directly with the Eligibility Specialist to ensure complete and accurate submission of Medicaid applications.
- Efficiently process Medicaid applications, adhering to state and county eligibility guidelines.
- Actively participate in client communications and team meetings.
- Complete and submit Medicaid applications to government agencies via fax, mail, or online portals.
- Follow up with Medicaid agencies to track the status of submitted applications.
- Provide clients with frequent and timely updates on application status and next steps.
- Review and respond to “requests for information” from Medicaid.
- Meet all key deadlines for submission of applications and supporting documents.
- Research state and county policies related to Medicaid long-term care eligibility and procedures.
- Coordinate with clients and government agencies on eligibility requirements, such as level of care assessments for home care or program enrollment for managed care programs.
- Elevate case issues to the Medicaid Team Manager, such as unexpected denials, changes in case strategy, appeals, or other eligibility considerations.
- Coordinate and advocate on behalf of clients when appeals or fair hearings are needed.
- Verify accuracy of benefits upon approval and resolve discrepancies.
- Document all client and agency interactions and agreements in the CRM system.
- Securely send and receive documents electronically, using online file sharing tools.
- Utilize Google Workspace apps, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- English fluency and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a professional office setting
- Working knowledge of long-term Medicaid, including processing applications and understanding Medicaid LTC eligibility rules
- Demonstrated ability to understand financial assets (e.g., IRAs, life insurance, annuities, trusts)
- Experience with complex problem solving
- Ability to collaborate within a team environment
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Responsible self-starter who meets deadlines
- History of working successfully with diverse individuals and groups
- Experience with file and document management
- Proficient in Google Suite products, especially Google Docs and Google Sheets
- Proficient using PDF editing software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional background in the Medicaid long-term care industry
- Hands-on case management experience
- Experience working in a fully remote environment, using cloud-based productivity tools
- Experience using a CRM or similar project management database
